Monday evening

After Kimchi we went out on the town again. We saw some more cool stuff!

We Were headed to a giant book store In the kyobo building. It took a while to find because the building lobby looked nothing like a book store, But just downstairs was an enormous magical book land!

We Were looking for T-money keychains. Those are the debit cards you use for the transit system, but in keychain form! Jake ended up finding a sweet one. plus! He scored a Korean copy of the first Harry Potter book and a sweet CD from the Korean Indie band KOXX.

We stumbled on to a Korean/Mexican fusion place for lunch. Seoul fries with bulgoggi, salsa, sour cream, and  cheese.

Even the graffiti here is super interesting. So many details around every corner!

I crashed super early yesterday to fight this annoying cold I brought over with me. Jake headed out to the foreigner district (think Chinatown but it's America town) Itaewon.

He bought a skateboard!
The other day in Yoedo there Were lots of boarders, so Jake's gonna go school them now.  :D

See ya tomorrow!

More Monday Morning!

After breakfast we we're offered to partake in a class that the guest house was putting on for it's guest. We took the opportunity and were rewarded with a pre-class tea time! This tea was amazing. It was like fall season condensed into a flavour~ The tea I got was for colds and fever, because I've got a cold... again... (but it's not that bad really!!!) Jake Got a similar tea but with more stuff at the bottom of it.

The cookies were super tasty, the white ones were puffy like cheetos inside but gingery!

This link explains Jake's situation...

We were given a second tea, Korean Lemon, because we loved the first batch so much!!

Then it was time for our class!

MAKING KIMCHI! with the kimchi master, Mrs.KIM!

We got these sweet aprons, with extra space for our ample busts! they make us look so pretty~

Especially Jake!

Our classmates were a Mother and her two daughters. They were Japanese! So awesome.

After Kimchi class it was time for some Kimchi snacks!

Kimchi and Tofu with some
more tea and Makkoli!
Makkoli is a rice alcohol, very rich!

There was a bit of a misunderstanding on my end about how to eat this...
I dipped my Kimchi right in the Makkoli... I thought our host said it was Sesame oil...
The look on her face when she saw what I did... so horrified.
Well! That's in the past now :D

NEXT!

Monday morning!

First Korean breakfast! Served to us in our room at the guest house, with coffee! There's a pretty big coffee culture here surprisingly, but I think ours was just nescafe  this morning  :p

First Kimchi in Korea~

nom nom  nom!

Sunday Afternoon.

Got on the subway for a short ride to...

Yoeido park, it was a cherry blossom island!

we rented some bikes and rode the bike path through the park. We did it twice because the trail wasn't too long, but there was enough to see to make both trips worth it  :)

Refueling on OJ  and some nachos. There was actually a salsa dip inside the chip bag. So genius.

Got some awesome vegetable noodle filled fried pancakes from a street vendor on our way back to...

Our next home! The Tea Guesthouse!

This place is super super ~lovely~

We went out for a walk before the sun went down and took in some more sights.

Took us a while to find an ATM that accepted our Canadian cards. Eventually we found one guarded by this guy!

Now it's time for a quick snack and some good long sleep!

Goooood  night!

Or good morning to you folks  back home  ;p

It was rainy when  we got off the subway but has since cleared off into beautiful spring weather! Real spring weather...

We got cleaned up in our fancy "shower room"

Hit up a convenience store (there's literally 3 7-11 per block) got some deeeelicious banana milk!

Took in the sweet sights!

And found our first cherry blossoms!

The usual comforts of airline travel.

Got lots of beauty sleep...

They DID give us really tasty Gelato!

And now we have arrived in Tokyo enroute to Seoul.

Pay phones! I thought Japan was all high tech! This is probably just a cleverly disguised hologram machine...
